Filtration Lines

What are Filtration Lines??

Filtration soiling occurs as a result of air being forced into the room or space at a higher rate than it can escape, via the ventilation system. The air then seeks alternative escape routes, which usually end up being the gap between the carpet and the wall trim and under closed doors. As the air is forced through these gaps, it passes through the carpet which acts as a filter to the air. Any pollutants in the air are trapped by the carpet and turn the carpet gray or black in that area. This does not occur as a result of insufficient or improper vacuuming techniques. It is a problem that can occur in the cleanest of homes. However, these lines make your home look dirty and you look like you don't keep a clean home even though we know better! The particles which cause filtration lines are extremely fine thus ending up firmly embedded into the carpet fibers making it back breaking work to get rid of them leaving you frustrated and unhappy with your results. Most cleaners won't touch filtration lines.

Of course at Apex, we never turn our backs on any project which appears to difficult.!!

This Is How We Do It

Now that you know how filtration lines occur, let’s take a look as to how we eliminate them.

Pre-Spray

For this process the technician understands that they will be on their hands and knees the whole time making no less than three laps around the room. However, the results are fantastic! First we vacuum around the room along the wall or baseboard to extract all loose soil and debris. Next we use a small spray bottle to lay down a specific solution designed just for filtration lines.

Agitation

Next a small firm brush will be used to agitate and spread the solution evenly over all of the soiled carpet fibers.

Rinse and Extract

After allowing some time to dwell a special tool will than be used to lay down a hot layer of spray to rinse the fibers. Through heavy vacuum from our truck mount, this tool will then extract all of the solution and soil which is now suspended in it. We pretty much follow the same steps as our carpet cleaning.
